The rural "breadbasket" of ancient Greece, this almost-island boasts the oldest "Empire" of Greece (Mycenae), the richest city (Corinth), the most unusual culture (Sparta), and the place where all Greece gathered to compete and worship (Olympia).

Historical Focus:
The Peloponnese boasts some of the oldest sites in Greece (Mycenae is from the 2nd Millennium b.c.). Much of what you'll see here, however, comes from the classical, Hellenistic, and Roman eras: 480 b.c. to 150 a.d.
